Morocco Cap Spartel Film Festival to honor late Iran director Kiarostami

The 4th edition of Morocco’s Cap Spartel Film Festival is set to pay homage to late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami.

The 4th edition of Morocco’s Cap Spartel Film Festival is set to pay homage to late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami.

The festival will be held in the city of Tangier on April 5-8, 2017.

Iranian short film ‘Building No. 13’ by Amir Gholami will also be screened in the festival. The 10-minute film is scheduled to be screened on April 7.

The films present at the festival have the theme of travelling, displacement and immigration or have a relation to frontiers and travelling beyond borders and while maintaining a running time of less than 20 Minutes.

Abbas Kiarostami, winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Festival in 1997 for his film ‘Taste of Cherry’, passed away on July 4, 2016.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.
